There seems to be some interesting behavior where histones have some attributes that are similar with primitive programing languages.
So it appears that the tighter DNA is wrapped around a histone the more likely for there to be a substitution modification on the DNA. The looser the DNA wraps around the histone the more likely there is to be an addition / deletion modification.
To me this seems like a primitive computer that accesses and manipulates data.

Not really convinced it is analog ... seems more digital/ quantized

I agree. The interactions are chemical based and reaction based. This is not governed by logic, but by properties.
"Digital" implies a logic based process.
