is space expanding or the universe?

is it unreasonable to think that space is infinite,or at least VERY LARGE,and the universe is expanding into it like a firework in the night sky?and is space really empty if it contains space.?wouldnt it be called the void or something like that?or what about infinite space cpntaining a infinite number of universes pulling ours and all others out into expansion in all directions with with their gravitational forces,which could explain why ours,at least,is expanding faster and faster as we move closer to the other universes?just a thought.if this can be proved otherwi9se,comeone please let me know.
